Prospective Students

To begin your application process for pursuing graduate studies in the College of Natural Resources, you must apply and be admitted into the College of Graduate Studies. The first step is to apply on-line or via mail to Graduate Admissions; see Graduate Admissions home page.

There are Grad Admissions requirements and there are MNR (departmental) requirements. The list below shows the combined requirements.

Required documents in your application package:

The application package includes the Graduate application and $55 non-refundable fee, a professional vitae or resume, a 1.5 - 2 page statement of career objectives, three letters of reference, GRE scores, and two copies of official transcripts from each college attended.

The reference letter form can be printed and should be submitted directly from the person providing the referral to the Graduate Admissions office.  These references are mailed to:

Graduate Admissions
University of Idaho
P.O. Box 4266
Moscow, ID  83844-4266

After the complete package is received, Graduate Admissions will forward it to the College of Natural Resources and then to the Master of Natural Resource committee for review.

On-Line Course Fees:

Many courses meeting MNR requirements that distance education students can register for at the UI are online courses, which are labelled in the UI Class Schedule as "World-Wide-Web" or "WWW;"  these specifically designated courses are offered at a special online (resident, in-state) rate.

However, not all courses taken by distance education students are online ones; those not listed in the UI Class Schedule as such -- e.g., 501 (DS), 502 (Sem./Colloquium), 599 (Non-research Thesis) -- are not, and have fees based on non-resident status.

Add $35 per credit to the fees listed above.  Also, it is strongly recommended that, upon registration, students contact the instructor of each on-line course to determine if additional fees apply.
