Forest Products Business Management
The Forest Products Business option provides students with knowledge and skills to qualify for well-paying positions in the business side of forest products, production management, marketing and distribution, and technical and support services. Many students have multiple employment offers prior to graduating.
Employment opportunities in Forest Products Business Management are outstanding. Our graduates have been hired by well known and growing companies such as: Jeld-Wen, Weyerhaeuser, Potlatch, Trus Joist MacMillan, Boise Cascade, Roseburg and Olympic Panel. Starting salaries range from $36,000 to $53,000 per year.
Course work combines studies in the technical side of forest products, which includes such areas as wood products processing, wood drying and preservation, plywood and particle board, with business studies in such areas as management, economics, marketing, and finance. To enhance this training, we encourage students to participate in team projects and hands-on learning through field trips and labs. This four-year program is accredited by the Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST).
The department provides scholarships for students who demonstrate a desire to learn and show promise of successfully completing their educational training in this program. The University of Idaho and the College of Natural Resources also have scholarships available for students who file their FAFSA information and show good academic standing and/or financial need.
Faculty and staff members take a personal interest in each student's curriculum and courses. They have excellent advising skills to assist students in achieving their academic and professional goals and to become successful in this profitable career.
