Overview
In 1987 and 1993 the University of Idaho conducted comprehensive statewide studies of leisure travel and recreation in Idaho. In order to meet Idaho's tourism, recreation and travel planning information needs, these studies made apparent the usefulness for trend data. Consequently, data gathering, analysis, and reporting efforts have become partnerships between the University of Idaho and many federal and state entities.
The purpose of the 1999-2000 Idaho Resident and Nonresident Motor Vehicle Travel Study is to continue the collection and analysis of data on travel in Idaho. The main goal of the project is to provide practical data on resident and nonresident motor vehicle travelers in Idaho including: party characteristics, recreation activity characteristics, destination and travel patterns, economic data, psychographic profile, traveler opinions and preferences on Idaho tourism and recreation services, needs, and assessment of traveler signage, facility and safety. Data will be collected in each of the seven regions in Idaho.
