ForestPARC The Forestry Remote Sensing Outreach Program ForestPARC Success Stories
May 2004:
The 1st Annual ForestPARC workshop was held in 17-19th May in Moscow, Idaho. This workshop was organized to demonstrate to land managers amd the community the uses of light detecton and ranging (Lidar) data in forestry. The workshop was attended by National experts with Keynote talks by Michael Lefsky and Ross Nelson.

This meeting included Vendor presentations and particpation by fedearal researchers within the USDA Forest Service, the United States Geological Survey; in addtion to University, tribal, and private researchers.
Although no proceedings were generated for this workshop pdf presentations of the contributions are available via the following Link.
May 2005:
For the 2nd Annual ForestPARC workshop; ForestPARC co-sponsered a workshop with the USDA Forest Service's Remote Sensing Applications Center (RSAC).
This workshop was entitled, ' Lidar Concepts & Resource Applications', and was held on 17-19th May 2005 at the Salt Lake City Public Library.
The workshop involved over 100 persons, including university researchers, forest service managers and researchers, students, and lidar vendors
This workshop included an Expert Panel Discussion, Vendor presentations, and Breakout sessions. The presentations of this workshop are available on a CD-ROM from RSAC.
April 2006:
We coordinated with the USDA Forest Service Remote Sensing Applications Center (RSAC) Eleventh Biennial Conference and had an afternoon post-fire session focusing on the 'Mapping and Monitoring of Burn Severity'.
The session contained:
- A synthesis of the current status of remote sensing methods to monitor active fire behavior and post-fire effects.
A series of researcher presentations.
A manager & researcher panel, detailed below.
The panel contained a representative cross-section of researchers and managers, including: Caty Clifton, Colin Hardy, Randy McKinley, Annette Parsons, Brian Schwind, Henry Shovic, and Dean Sirucek
