Non-U.S. Citizen and International Admission to the University
International Programs
Applications to the College of Graduate Studies from international applicants must be received by the Graduate Admissions Office by:
May 1 for fall semester October 1 for spring semester March 15 for summer semester
In addition to the requirements outlined in the UI graduate and non-degree student web pages, all applicants whose native language in not English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Applicants must present a minimum score of 525 to be considered for nondegree admission and for admission to the College of Graduate Studies. Consult individual departments for additional TOEFL scores requirements. A current (no more than two years old) official copy of the TEOFL results must be submitted to the university with the application for admission.
In compliance with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) requirements, all applicants for degree seeking or nondegree admission who are living in the United States and who are not U.S. citizens, must provide verification of their current visa status, i.e., a copy of either their U.S. visa and passport, I-94 stamp with visa status, etc. All non-U.S. citizens who are permanent residents must furnish their Permanent Resident card number or "A" number on their admission form.
