What is a certificate?
A certificate signifies that a student has successfully completed a series of predetermined courses in a specific emphasis area. The courses designated in a certificate are not "new" courses in any department's curriculum, they already exist in a department's current approved curriculum. |

What is meant by "successfully completed"?
Students must earn a grade of "B" or better in each course to qualify for the certificate.

How many credits are required to earn a certificate?
A minimum of 12 credits is required to earn a certificate. The certificate consists of a selection of electives and/or required courses as determined by the department offering the certificate program.

How many credits can I transfer from another institution?
With CNR Certificate Committee approval, students may transfer up to 3 credits of course work from another institution toward the Certificate. |

|
Can graduate students include certificate courses as part of their study plan?
Current M.S. and Ph.D. students may include the certificate courses as part of their study plan at the UI or at other institutions with approval by their respective Graduate Committee. |

Can I take these courses without earning a certificate?
Students may also take Certificate courses to enhance their knowledge in restoration ecology without seeking the Certificate. |
