IDFG's Screw Trap was installed in Big Creek in February.  Rivers flows have caused the removal of the trap until river flows recede.

The screw trap is operated on a daily basis to PIT-tag and release steelhead trout and Chinook salmon populations.


Brian Kennedy, UI F&W Prof. (c), and his Advanced Fish Ecology graduate class snorkeled in Big Creek in March, exploring over-wintering juvenile salmonoids.


Ben Crosby, ISU Geomorphology Prof. installed an electronic stream gauge under the Big Creek Bridge to provide real-time data on stream flows for a Basin Hydrology research study. 


The Dave Lewis Cabin restoration began the end of April 2008. The cabin will be restored to a 1920's cabin in the wilderness.

Bill Wallace and Mary Acker inspired the restoration of the Lewis Cabin and as the major donors provided the majority of the funding.

Ceiling panels were removed to expose a vaulted ceiling with new log support.
